Day 13 - Wedding Preparation Day

Alan's writing the blog tonight with Sarah's thoughts in purple.

We were able to sleep in this morning as we don't have a free breakfast included here in Las Vegas. The amount of noise going on outside our hotal made it hard to stay sleeping though.

Our first order of business for the day was to drive to the Clark County Marriage License Office to get our paperwork sorted out. There was a very long queue of people there and it took about an hour before we made it to the front of the line. Obviously a lot of people come to Vegas to get married. There were even 2 couples in their full wedding outfits.  One even had their limo waiting in a 5 minute only spot.

After successfully obtaining our license, we took the paperwork back to our hotel room for safekeeping before heading back out to a bridal shop in an attempt to find something for us to wear on the big day. Our car has a display in it which shows the temperature outside and as we drove up the strip it reached as high as 112F (44C). We found the place we were looking for and Sarah decided to go with the first dress she tried on. Yay. It needs to have some changes made, so we'll head back there in the next couple of days for a final fitting at which time I'll also get my clothes.

The lady told Sarah she needed a new bra to wear with it so she gave us directions to a mall where we should be able to find what we need. A 3 minute trip took us about 20 minutes thanks to her incorrect directions and  but we got there eventually. If Alan hadn't given up going in one direction, we would have found it 5 seconds later. Finding a bra big enough for Sarah's gigantically oversized boobies was a much more difficult proposition and it took us a good hour or so. It was because I didn't understand the sizing and I needed to find a salesperson who knew what she was talking about.  She also needed shoes for the wedding and that wasn't particularly easy either due to her huge clown feet.  The shoe sizing is different here too.  I found one pair I liked and we bought them.  It took no time at all.

After another trip back to our room to drop off our shopping, we went back up the strip to the Circus Circus casino. We were planning on having some dinner at the buffet there but it didn't really look the best so we gave it a miss and instead went upstairs to play the camel racing game where you play against other people and roll a ball into holes to move your camel along the track. We played 2 games and somehow Sarah flukily managed to win both, gaining us a monkey and an extremely cute little giraffe. Not a fluke at all.  I haven't played in eight years but my talent and skill shone through.  For some reason they both have belly buttons. We bought a box of Krispy Kreme donuts and went back to our hotel.

We really wanted a buffet dinner so we walked south along the strip checking inside the casinos to see who had one. We didn't have much luck so we went back to our hotel and ate at the buffet here which is quite expensive. We made up for it by absolutely stuffing ourselves silly with about two thousand prawns plus a heap of other goodies. I really don't even want to look at that box of donuts just now.  The buffet was amazing.  Prawns, crab, salads, sushi, meat, pastas, soups, vegetables and desserts, lots and lots of desserts.

Anyway, that should do for today I think as those roulette tables are calling out to me once again.

Trivia for the day: Driving up and down the strip is very much a free-for-all. Practically all of the white lines, stop lines, pedestrian crossings etc are completely invisible and in dire need of re-marking, which makes knowing when to stop and which lane you're in near impossible to tell.
